    Hi AIoT Canada colleagues,

I'm back from my first international conference since March 2020, IEEE RFID and co-hosted RFID Journal Live, and am pleased to share with you the slides from my tutorial presented at the former:

    Tutorial: RFID as Ambient Data

For those who come from the "IoT = connected things" school of thought, I hope that the tutorial provides some insight into why I've long been a proponent of the potential of the "IoT = auto-identifiable things" school of thought, based on the sheer magnitude of radio-identifiable things among two standards alone: RAIN RFID & Bluetooth Low Energy.

Key takeaway from the conference is that interoperability is top of mind, both on the research and industry sides.  And there are finally signs that vendors are taking the issue seriously, not only in words, but also in actions.

When I read your LinkedIn Poast and relate to your latest post: " Key takeaway from the conference is that
interoperability is top of mind, both on the research and industry sides.  "And there are finally signs that vendors are taking the issue seriously, not only in words, but also in actions.""

Can you define "in actions".... for our readers.  And how can we strenghen.. this momentum....?

An example of vendors are taking "actions" is the fact that following the conference last week, we're on track to integrate no fewer than 3-4 RAIN RFID (UHF Passive) protocols with our Pareto Anywhere open source software, aided by internal champions at those vendors.

In previous years, I would encourage collaboration on the same integration which would never materialise.  We never integrated RAIN RFID, not for lack of trying, but for lack of support.  And in the span of a week, that will have completely changed!

Interoperability benefits not only the end users, but also the vendors, and I would encourage my Canadian colleagues to celebrate interoperability without reservation and actively seek integrations with peers.  That's a great way to build a robust pan-Canadian AIoT ecosystem.  ;-)

    Merci pour ta question Michel!
