At our AGM on June 15th, AIoT Canada announced the establishment of a game plan to address cybersecurity issues. One of the strategies is to set up a "SWAT" team of experts who can address some of the issues and especially those related to cyber security of connected objects.
For those who work in the field and would like to join our elite team: take the time to contact me at michel@aiotcanada.ca and let me know of your interest.  For those who are looking for solutions: describe in the forum the problem you are looking to solve. With this forum: we can certainly help each other.

According to the Ministry of Innovation of Quebec in their technology watch bulletin:

Cybersecurity does not seem to be getting better. On the contrary, it only gets worse every year. Commenting on the results of SonicWall's 2022 Cyber Threat report, TechRepublic  points out that just about every category of cyberattack has increased in volume during 2021.

Indeed, encrypted threats increased by 167 percent (10.4 million attacks), ransomware (ransomware) by 105 percent (623.3 million), crypto wallet theft (cryptojacking) by 19 percent (97.1 million), and intrusion attempts by 11 percent (5.3 trillion!). Malware attacking connected objects (IoT), meanwhile, increased by 6 percent to 60.1 million attacks. TechRepublic reports that the only type of attack that decreased (-4%) in 2021 was malware attacks. However, with 5.4 billion attacks in 2021, they represent the second highest type of attack by total volume.

For the year 2022, the WEB Forum
anticipates that cyber hackers will continue to take advantage of misinformation campaigns to defraud people. The sale of fake COVID medical certificates through various types of cyberattacks, such as phishing, is a recent example. Moreover, taking advantage of a lack of organizational oversight, ransomware attacks on supply chains will reportedly become more frequent and financially severe.

And you: how are you responding to this growing threats? Any best practices or tips you want to share?
